Building Bridges between Arts and Entrepreneurship Since 2000
From Thought to ACT!ON
EYMP is a year-round Media program designed for students ages 10 - 18 and contains two major components:
Educational (Basic to Advanced In-Person & Online Classes organized by subject/topic and adjusted according to the ages and skills of the participants):
We will tackle a wide range of skills and subjects, from Screenwriting to Design, Cinematography, Online Streaming, to Project Management. Students are encouraged to propose additional subjects of study - either individually or as a group - AND bring their own skills and passions into their work.
Students will be expected to bring an open and inquisitive mind backed by a sense of self-directing and dedicated independent study time.
Research-to-Delivery Hands-On Projects (Individual and Team based)
We will develop projects based on issues that local communities and not-for-profit organizations are confronting. This will be achieved through a well structured and collaborative project management approach where every student involved will assume roles and responsibilities similar to those in a real life project and production environment.
Throughout their participation, EYMP students will continuously build up a resume of practical skills achieved through concrete projects, offering them an excellent edge during future endeavors into their higher education and/or career applications.
EYMP Mission and Philosophy:
EYMP is a progressive journalistic platform operating from an ideological space of mutual respect, inclusivity, as well as a secular and apolitical stance.
The goal is to connect young minds and hearts with local issues that matter to real people in real time while using media technology to help solve these issues by bringing awareness to local communities. We use proximity as a factor in working on local issues with local organizations and people - to be IN TOUCH with reality at “ground level”.
To achieve these goals, EYMP is entirely decentralized and allows participants to choose, develop, and collaboratively pursue the content of their choice - expressed and delivered through a digital medium of their choice.
“Art lives from constraints and dies from freedom.” - Leonardo da Vinci
While decentralizing decision-making is a progressive and democratic foundation for EYMP, participants will work based on a set of chosen guidelines and parameters. These guidelines and parameters will ensure that EYMP aims for a high standard in quality content, unbiased and fair journalism, and community-appropriate projects.
“The enemy of art is the absence of (financial or physical) limitations.” - Orson Welles, via Henry Jaglom
EYMP is an ongoing project, open to Middle School (starting at 10 years of age) through High School students. After High-School, students are encouraged to remain as EYMP Alumni and assume a deeper mentorship and/or leadership role and responsibility as they continue on with their lives and careers.
Participation is based on a Continuous Enrollment Monthly Membership.
EYMP classes and projects run year-round.
Alumni and Honorary memberships are donation-based.
